Kulgam: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan on Wednesday visited Khudwani area to review progress on the ongoing construction work on the approach road connecting to the National Highway-44 near Khudwani.
Executive Engineer concerned informed the Deputy Commissioner that the road is ready for movement of traffic, and macadamization work will be started on the road in the next month.
It was informed that the approach road was taken under District Capex with an allotted cost of 47 lac.
Speaking on the occasion, DC said that in absence of a proper approach road, commuters were using a wrong and unsafe route to access NH-44, making the location highly vulnerable and accident-prone.
He added that the newly constructed approach road near Khudwani spot is now expected to streamline vehicular movement and significantly reduce the risk of accidents in the area.
Local residents expressed their gratitude for the timely intervention and appreciated the efforts of the district administration for ensuring safer connectivity at the Khuwani NH-44 spot.
The DC was accompanied by the Executive Engineer R&B Kulgam, AEEs and other concerned officers.
