Srinagar, Apr 14 (JKNS): Reacting strongly to the Waqf Amendment Act 2025, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said his party has already challenged the legislation in the Supreme Court, stressing that the law unfairly targets one particular religion.

“My party has already filed a petition in front of the Supreme Court. Now leave it to the judges,” CM Omar Abdullah speaking to reporters in Ne Delhi as per news agency JKNS, said that several other organisations have also approached the apex court on the matter.

“We believe that this piece of legislation has targeted one particular religion. We are supposed to be in a secular state. All religions are supposed to be treated equally. We believe that we have a right to be treated equally,” he added.

CM Omar said the issue now rests with the judiciary. “We want the Supreme Court to adjudicate on this. Now we will wait,” he said. (JKNS)
