Poonch: District Development Commissioner Vikas Kundal chaired a meeting on Saturday in the meeting Hall of DC Office complex to assess the progress of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) in the district.
The meeting focused on the Agriculture and allied sectors, in attendance of representatives from different stakeholder departments—including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sericulture and Fisheries.
District Development Commissioner Kundal reviewed the progress and achievements of the concerned departments as well as expenditures related to these initiatives. He set ambitious targets for each department, directing the officials to expedite their efforts to achieve the same within one week.
Emphasising the significance of HADP, the Deputy Commissioner stated, “This initiative is pivotal for fostering a sustainable and profitable agricultural ecosystem in our border district.”
In a directive, he tasked the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer with establishing milk collection units in Surankote and Poonch, building on the success already seen in the Mendhar subdivision. He also called for the enhancement of dairy and poultry projects across the district.
Additionally, Deputy Commissioner Kundal urged the stakeholder departments to increase registration and enrollment in programs such as Daksh Kisan, Kisan Credit Card, and Kisan Khidmat Ghar.
The programme strives to empower farmers with the knowledge and tools necessary to boost their productivity and profitability, ultimately contributing to the overall growth of the agriculture sector,” DC added.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to advancing agricultural development in the region, ensuring that farmers receive the support they need to thrive.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, District Agriculture Officer, Account Officer, Fishery Development Officer, District Sericulture Officer, Area & Marketing Officer, and District Head KVK, among others.
