Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Kangan at a checkpoint established at kachnambal Crossing intercepted a suspect identified as Shareef-ud-Din Chechi S/o Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Chechi R/o Chattergul Bala who on seeing the Police Party, tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by alert police party and during his personal search, contraband charas like substance was recovered and seized. Stating that a case under FIR No. 27/2025, under relevant Sections of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Kangan besides initiating further investigation Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per the law.
