Budgam :: A successful one-day Technical Seminar titled ‘Sustainable Solutions in Animal Husbandry’ was Thursday held at the Conference Hall of Chief Animal Husbandry office in Budgam.
The Director of the Animal Husbandry Department Kashmir, Dr Parvinder Singh Sudan graced the event as the chief guest.
The seminar aimed to connect cutting-edge research with practical application in the livestock and poultry industries, bringing together leading experts from academic institutions and the poultry sector to discuss sustainable and science-based approaches to animal rearing.
The Director commended the seminar for promoting collaboration and the adoption of innovative, research-backed methods to ensure the long-term sustainability, productivity, and welfare of animals in the region.
Dr. Asif Bashir Shikari from SKUAST-Kashmir discussed the potential of hydroponics for increasing fodder availability in Kashmir, emphasizing its resource efficiency.
Dr. Basharat Maqbool Wani of Maharashtra Feeds addressed the challenges and disease management in Kashmir’s poultry industry, stressing the need for better disease control and farmer education.
Additionally, Dr. Ghulam Rasool Bhat from FVSc provided strategies for diagnosing and managing repeat breeding in cattle to improve reproductive health.
Later, the Director acknowledged the excellent work of several officers and staff members.
