IEC campaign on Drug Abuse: District level Seminar held at Shopian

ADDC Shopian cautions youth against falling prey to drugs

Shopian : District administration Shopian on Thursday organised an impressive seminar at Government Degree College (GDC) Shopian under the ongoing IEC Campaign against Drug Abuse with an aim to target the vulnerable sections of society especially youth against the scourge of Drug Addiction in the society.
The seminar was presided over by ADDC, Shopian, Dr.Nasir Ahmad Lone, who on the occasion implored youth to be cautious against the Drug menace threatening the health and development of the country.
He asked them to be focused towards their studies and pursue dreams for career development rather than engaging in pervasive and life threatening mis-adventures of Drugs and Smoking.
Speakers from Health, Education and GDC on the occasion spoke on the gravity of the Drug Menace which is destroying the families and social fabric.
Ethical, moral and religious invocations were made out by the speakers to convey the target audience, the severe extent of the menace in the society.
Health, economic and social repercussions of the evil were highlighted abundantly in order to acquaint the massive gathering about the urgency to discuss the issue at all platforms.
Teachers and parents were also sensitised about their role in shaping their kids and wards development and making their empowered citizens.
Cultural and dramatic performances reinforced the need to fight against the Drug Abuse which is consuming lives of innumerable young and shattering dreams of Happy families.
The public including civil society members, activists, attended in large numbers along with teachers and frontline workers of Poshan Abhiyaan, Youth services and sports and college and higher secondary students.
The seminar was also attended by CEO, DIO, DSWO, DYSSO, CDPOs, faculty of College and other officials of Health, School education, Higher education, Poshan Abhiyan and other stakeholder departments.
