Awareness prog. held for LSUC, support for Admission/ Re-admission in schools at B’gam

Budgam: In a significant move, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam in collaboration with Juvenile Justice Board, Budgam organized an awareness programme for Legal Services Unit for Children (LSUC), Support for Admission/Re-admission in Schools at Juvenile Justice Board Budgam.
The programme was organized under the aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority and under the guidance of O.P Baghat, Chairman DLSA (Pr.&Distt.Judge) Budgam and under the supervision of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA Budgam and Shabber Ayaz, Principal Magistrate Juvenile Justice Board Budgam.
Sandeep Kour, Member Child Welfare Committee Budgam gave a brief introduction about the programme.
Advocate. Feroz Ahmad Khan Member Child Welfare Committee, Budgam, briefed the audience about LSUC and about educational opportunities for children particularly those rescued from trafficking, abuse, and other challenging circumstances and how they can be supported for Admission/Re-admission in Schools.
Mehreen Zafer, Panel lawyer DLSA Budgam briefed the audience about the role of DLSA in rendering the services. She urged the collaborative partners including Child Welfare Committees and Child help line to raise awareness about the free and competent Legal aid meant for the juveniles and other marginalized sections of society.
In her address she also apprised the audience about specific legal provisions for vulnerable children, including those with disabilities, transgender children, and children at risk of trafficking or abuse. She clarified legal provisions, children’s rights, and remedies available through legal services for children in need.
NALSA Helpline (15100), Child Helpline (1098), Divyangjan Helpline (14456), and other relevant helplines were also displayed in the programme to ensure that children and their families are aware of legal and child protection helplines
The programme witnessed active participation of Members of LSUC, staff of Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board Budgam, members of Child Helpline Budgam and Staff and PLVs (Adhikar Mitras) of DLSA Budgam.
