Budgam: Residents of Gotale Pora in Arizal area of Khansahib, Budgam, staged a silent protest on Wednesday against the District Administration, voicing strong resentment over the recent laying of water pipelines on the main road.
Locals speaking to news agency JKNS said that placing pipelines directly on the road is a flawed move that could lead to serious issues in the future. “This can damage the road and disrupt water supply later. We fear the road will be dug up again and again,” a local resident said.
The protesters demanded that the authorities revisit the project and shift the pipeline alignment away from the main road to avoid further inconvenience to commuters and residents alike.
Reacting to the protest, the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Khansahib assured the villagers that their concerns are genuine and would be addressed. “Tendering process has been done by the XEN and we will try our best to get it done properly,” he told JKNS.
He added that the road will be restored after completion of the macadamization process. (JKNS)
