Jammu: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Sher Singh, Joint Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Executive Officers of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and officials from the Housing Department and Jammu Development Authority (JDA).
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the need for expediting construction under PMAY-U. He directed SDMs to personally monitor progress in their respective ULBs and ensure that all housing projects advance through critical construction stages plinth, lintel and roof-without delay. Addressing concerns over uninitiated works, he instructed officials to resolve underlying issues promptly.
The DC set a firm deadline for ongoing projects, directing that houses at the roof or lintel stage must be completed within one month. He also stressed the importance of conducting ground verification of all under-construction houses.
The meeting also deliberated on the rollout of PMAY 2.0 in Jammu district. The Deputy Commissioner urged officials to organise special awareness camps to educate beneficiaries about the scheme and assist them during the application process.
Executive Officers reported that several awareness sessions have already been held at various levels to encourage participation. The DC reiterated the importance of these initiatives in ensuring that eligible beneficiaries are well-informed and supported throughout the process.
