Cricketer Injured in Bijbehara Accident Succumbs, Death Toll Reaches Two

Anantnag: The death toll in the Bijbehara road accident has risen to two as a young cricketer who was critically injured succumbed to his injuries late last night.

The accident took place on Monday evening near Fruit Mandi Jablipora in South Kashmir’s Bijbehara Anantnag district.

An official told news agency JKNS that Jasif Hassan, son of Gh Hassan Dar, a resident of Sangam and a budding cricketer, was among the three injured in the collision between a truck and a car.

He was shifted to GMC Anantnag in critical condition but could not survive despite efforts by the doctors, official said.

Earlier, Irfan Ahmad of Mirbazar had died on the spot in the accident. Two other injured persons, Nadeem Ahmad Dar of Sethar and Khursheed Ahmad of Khonmoh, are undergoing treatment.

The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom in the area, particularly in the local cricketing circles. (JKNS)
