Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages Saturday organized the release function of the book Between Echoes and Shadows, a poetic collection by Mr Manzoor Akash, noted writer and poet.
Dr. Rafiq Masoodi, former Secretary JKAACL was the Chief Guest while as Mr Ideel Saleem, Additional Secretary, JKAACL, Mr Manzoor Akash, and Dr Abid Ahmad were in the presidium.
Mr Ideel Saleem, Additional Secretary, JKAACL, while welcoming the guests highlighted the role of literature in life. He also delved in detail about various schemes and initiatives the Academy has undertaken to promote local talent in diverse fields of art, literature, culture, music, theatre, etc.
Dr Masoodi while speaking on the occasion underscored the significance of creative expressions especially poetry in today’s world. He also spoke about the importance of knowing the mother tongue, along with mastering other languages.
Mr Iftikhar Imran, a noted writer and educationist, presented a critical review on the poetic collection. He appreciated the poet’s keen observation as reflected through the thematic diversity of the book.
The event was attended by writers, poets, literary enthusiasts, students and scholars. Prominent among them were Mr Shahnaz Rashid, Mr Shafi Ahmad, Dr Neelofar Naaz Nehvi, Mohammad Yusuf Shaheen, Prof Ishaq Wani, Prof Tariq Ahmad, Mr Basharast Meraj and Mr Faisal Javid. They congratulated JKAACL for encouraging writers like Mr Manzoor Akash and organising such literary get-togethers on regular basis.
The launch also featured a reading session, where Mr Manzoor Akash read excerpts from his poetic collection, giving the audience a glimpse into his creative engagements. Mr Akash expressed his gratitude to JKAACL for organizing the book launch.
Originally published by Suman Publication, Noida, Between Shadows and Echoes delves into contemporary social issues affecting Kashmir, such as environmental degradation, cultural erosion, and social challenges and is now available at online platforms.
