Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has booked eight drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act in Budgam
In a statement issued here on Tuesday Police identified the booked drug peddlers as Nazir Ahamd Sheikh R/o Tangnar Chadoora, Mohd Sultan Bhat R/o Sholipora, Mohd Altaf Ganie R/o Dardpora, Farooq Ahamd Sheikh R/oTangnar Chadoora, Abdul Hameed Dar R/o Sholipora, Reyaz Ahamd Ahanger R/o Shandpora Watakuloo, Mehraj Ahmad Mir R/o Choon Budgam and Mohd Rafiq Dar R/o Russu.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to eradicate drug trade and ensure a safer, drug-free society, Stating therein further that strict legal action is being taken against those involved in narcotic smuggling, reflecting the firm resolve of law enforcement agencies to protect the youth from the dangers of substance abuse. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to support it in fighting against drug trafficking by reporting any suspicious activity related to narcotics.
