Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday said that the large areas of Shivpora, Batwara, Indra Nagar, and Sonwar fall under the jurisdiction of the Army Cantonment, and civic amenities including drainage and sewerage are maintained by the Badami Bagh Cantonment Board.

Replying to the question of MLA Sheikh Ahsan Pardesi, the concerned minister as per news agency JKNS said that due to the limited capacity of the drainage network in these areas, waterlogging occurs during heavy rains or storms. The Srinagar Municipal Corporation has put in place three permanent dewatering stations at Indra Nagar near GP Pant Hospital (45 cusecs), Sonwar Bagh near footbridge of Sonwar Market (16 cusecs), and Shivpora near bund (30 cusecs).
