Srinagar : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat on Monday chaired a meeting here to review the arrangements for celebrations of upcoming festival of Navratri (Nowreh) in the district.
During the meeting, DC took a detailed review of the arrangements to be put in place for smooth celebrations of the Navratri, the festival celebrated on New Year as per Hindu calendar to be celebrated with traditional enthusiasm and religious fervour on 30th March and 5th & 6th April respectively in the district.
At the outset, the DC directed all the line departments to make elaborate measures for the smooth celebrations of the festival and ensure all basic arrangements are put in place for the devotees well in advance.
On the occasion, the DC passed directions to the concerned Departments to ensure better facilities including adequate transport and parking facilities, sanitation and cleaning measures at Shankar Achariya Temple, Sharika Devi Temple, Durga Nag temple, Zeathyar Temple, Purishyar Temple and other major temples in the City.
Besides Additional District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Rifat Aftab Qureshi, Additional Deputy Commissioners, Dr Khalid Hussain Malik and Syed Ahmad Kataria; RTO, Kashmir, Qazi Irfan and Superintendent of Police, Umer Shah the meeting was attended by senior Officers of Revenue, PDD, SMC, PHE, Health Services, Fire & Emergency Services and other concerned Officers.
The representatives of Shankar Achariya Temple, Sharika Devi Temple, Durga Nag temple, Zeathyar Temple, Purishyar Temple also participated in the meeting and discussed the arrangements to be made on the occasion.
