Srinagar: An eight-year-old boy lost his life in a tragic road accident in the Hariganiwan market area of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday.

Officials told news agency JKNS that the accident took place when a Renault Kiger vehicle, bearing registration number HR51CG/7761, hit the boy identified as Afsaan Ahmad Thekry, son of Shabir Ahmad, a resident of Hariganiwan, Kangan.

The child was immediately rushed to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kangan for treatment but was declared dead on arrival, they said.

Meanwhile, police have taken the driver into custody and an investigation into the incident has been initiated, the officials added. (JKNS)
