Jammu: A team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Forest Guard of Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department, Billawar Zonal Office, District Kathua, for demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant.
Official spokesman on Saturday said that a case was registered by CBI against the accused on the allegations that he demanded a bribe of Rs. 35000/- from the complainant for allowing the complainant for smooth execution of contract work i.e. construction and repair of road and release of key of JCB Machine forcibly taken by accused.
The CBI laid a trap and caught accused Forest Guard, red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.35,000/- from the complainant. Later, accused identified as Vipin Pathania, Forest Guard, J&K Forest Department, Billawar Zonal Office, District Kathua, UT of J&K has been arrested.
The accused was produced before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption (CBI Cases), Jammu and the Ld. Court remanded the accused to Judicial Custody for 14 days.
The CBI also conducted a search at residential of accused in Tehsil-Bilawar, District Kathua which led to recovery of some incriminating documents.
