SRINAGAR: The Director of Horticulture today unveiled a Management Guide for Apple Orchards in Kashmir at a formal event held at the Directorate of Horticulture Kashmir.
The launch ceremony was attended by the Deputy Director Horticulture Kashmir, Assistant Director Horticulture Kashmir, senior officers of the department and a group of farmers.
This comprehensive guide provides vital information for apple growers, including a spray schedule for pesticides used in orchards and fertilizer application schedules essential for improving fruit quality and yield.
By following the outlined recommendations, orchardists can adopt scientific and sustainable practices to enhance productivity and disease resistance.
Speaking at the event, the Director of Horticulture emphasized the significance of proper orchard management techniques and encouraged growers to utilize the guide effectively. He assured the farming community of the department’s continued support through training programs, expert guidance, and field demonstrations.
The management guide is now available for orchardists and other stakeholders at District and zone level offices and can also be downloaded from the departmental website.
