Pulwama: In a continued effort to regulate market practices and ensure compliance with quality and hygiene standards, the District Administration Pulwama has intensified market inspections across the district.
The drive was conducted on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom, to assess hygiene standards and quality of consumables and prevent overpricing and black marketing.
The inspections were carried out through a joint collaboration of multiple departments, under the overall supervision of the Reveneue Department covering various markets across the district.
During the inspection, the perishable items found unfit for consumption were seized and disposed off on the spot.
Furthermore, fines were imposed on erring shopkeepers for violating various provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The authorities urged all vendors to adhere strictly to the prescribed norms and guidelines to ensure hygiene, cleanliness and public health safety and warned them of strict action against any malpractice.
