Srinagar: Cyber Police Kashmir has successfully recovered and credited back Rs 45 lakh to victims of online fraud. The swift intervention by the cyber unit not only prevented further financial losses but also reinforced public trust in law enforcement efforts against digital scams.
Officials said that multiple complaints were received from individuals who had fallen prey to various online fraud schemes, including phishing, fraudulent investment apps, and fake job offers. Acting promptly, the Cyber Police traced the fraudulent transactions and ensured that the stolen funds were returned to the rightful owners.
Highlighting the growing sophistication of cybercriminals, Cyber Police Kashmir urged the public to remain vigilant against digital frauds. “Cyber fraudsters are evolving—stay alert! There is no such thing as easy money. Avoid fraudulent apps and investment schemes,” an official advisory stated.
Authorities reiterated the importance of safeguarding personal financial details. Citizens have been advised never to share OTPs, bank credentials, or click on suspicious links. In case of any cyber fraud, immediate reporting to Cyber Police Kashmir or dialing the cybercrime helpline 1930 can increase the chances of fund recovery.
