Adjudicating Officer imposes Rs 1.52 lac fine on erring FBOs, traders in Srinagar

Srinagar: The Court of Adjudicating Officer, Srinagar on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs.1,52,500 on erring Food Business Operators (FBOs), Traders in Srinagar for violating various provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
Additional District Magistrate Srinagar, Syed Ahmad Kataria, who is the Adjudicating Officer, imposed the fine during adjudication of food safety cases. Kataria also warned food business operators that repeated violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act would result in the closure of their businesses.
This move aims to ensure food safety and hygiene in Srinagar, following the implementation of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, which emphasizes the importance of food safety and standards act.
The penalties were levied in response to the contraventions of the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act-2006 by the traders of various City areas.
The Adjudicating Officer has emphasized the importance of adhering to legal regulations in the food items and asked FBOs to comply with the Food Safety and Standards Act and its associated rules, directed the concerned enforcement agency to intensify action against the violators.
