DLSA Budgam conducts awareness programme on Consumer Rights, Lokpal

Distributes food ration kits among deserving families at Town Hall Budgam

BUDGAM: Serving humanity, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam, under the aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority, organized an awareness programme on consumer rights and Lokpal at Town hall, municipality committee office Budgam.

The programme organized under the guidance of Justice Atul Sreedharan Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services authority and Shazia Tabassum, Member Secretary of J&K Legal Services authority was held under the chairmanship of O.P. Baghat Chairman DLSA (Pr.Distt. & Sessions Judge) Budgam, and was supervised by Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA Budgam.

Addressing the  gatherings, Secretary DLSA gave a detailed overview of the programme and apprised the audience about consumer rights and Lokpal. She further said that the prime focus of the DLSA is reaching out to the marginalized sections of the society and elevating them to the next level of living standards. She also highlighted the importance of celebrating consumer day.

On the occasion, a short film prepared by Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar, regarding anti corruption and Lokpal awareness was also screened for general awareness of masses.

Furthermore, Shahrooq Bhat Deputy Legal aid defense Counsel also apprised the audience about the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013, with the mandate to inquire into allegations of corruption against specified public functionaries and matters connected with.

In the programme, 50 ration food kits were distributed among the deserving families belonging to the different hamlets of Budgam, who were earlier identified as deserving during door to door campaigns by PLVs/ Adhikar Mitras of DLSA Budgam.
