BUDGAM: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo, today inaugurated the newly upgraded Sheikh-ul-Alam Centre for Skill Development at the district headquarters Budgam.
On the occasion, DC lauded the concerned agencies for high-quality work with timely completion of upgradation, renovation and repair work.
Labroo highlighted the upgraded Centre’s dual purpose—serving both as a public awareness hub and a Skill Development Training Centre.
The upgradation work included upgrading of the exterior building, installation of state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment, improved seating, enhanced lighting, modern interior design accessibility ramps for specially-abled citizens, steel railings etc.
He said the upgraded centre is equipped with necessary facilities for skill development programs. He also said the center aims to empower youth and create employment opportunities in the district through job fairs, skill development courses, internship schemes etc.
During his visit, the DC inspected the hall’s infrastructure, including the public address system and expressed satisfaction with the completed work.
He also emphasised the district administration’s commitment for providing accessibility and sustainability, noting that all public offices at Budgam Headquarters are now being equipped with ramps for specially-abled individuals.
Additionally, 96 public offices will have solar panel roofing for enhanced power supply, and rain water harvesting facilities which have been installed at the district headquarters, will be extended to other public buildings in Budgam very soon.
He stated that the district administration is committed to community engagement, youth empowerment, and sustainable development while ensuring that all public offices in Budgam are accessible to every citizen of the district.
Among others, ADDC Budgam, ADC Budgam, ACR Budgam, CPO Budgam, Executive Engineer R&B Budgam and officials of various engineering wings were also present on the occasion.
