Chinar Day Celebrated with Massive Tree Plantation Drive in Srinagar

Srinagar,: KASHMIR CONCERN, in collaboration with the Forestry Division of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), celebrated Chinar Day with a large-scale tree plantation drive, reinforcing the commitment to preserving the majestic Chinar—an enduring symbol of Kashmir’s cultural and ecological identity.

The event was graced by Mr. Sajad Ur Rehman, Sub Judge and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), who commended the initiative and urged citizens to actively contribute to environmental conservation. He emphasized that the Chinar is not just a tree but an emblem of Kashmir’s rich heritage, and protecting it is a collective responsibility.

 

Among the distinguished attendees were BTA President Peer Imtiyaz-ul-Hassan, renowned businessman Sheikh Rashid, renowned architect Mr. Rizwan, and Fahad Amin Khan, Publicity Secretary of Kashmir Concern. The presence of leading environmentalists, social activists, and community members further underscored the significance of the event.

 

Peer Imtiyaz Sheikh Rashid, Chairman of Kashmir Concern, expressed deep gratitude to the Commissioner of SMC and his team, particularly Mr. Lateef, DFO of the Forestry Division, for their relentless efforts in supporting the cause of urban afforestation.

 

Dr. Touseef Ahmed, a driving force behind the initiative, emphasized the need for consistent efforts in environmental preservation.

 

He remarked, “The Chinar is not merely a tree; it is a testament to our history, strength, and natural beauty. Each sapling planted today is a pledge for a greener future, ensuring that our next generations inherit a Kashmir as breathtaking as the one we cherish.”

 

Mr. Azhar Hussain, Organizing Secretary of Kashmir Concern, lauded the enthusiasm of volunteers, students, and local residents who actively participated in the plantation drive.

 

“The overwhelming response to today’s event reflects the deep connection Kashmiris have with their environment. It is our collective duty to safeguard our natural heritage, and together, we can make a lasting impact,” he stated.

 

The event concluded with a resounding pledge to continue similar initiatives, fostering a shared vision of a greener, healthier Srinagar. Kashmir Concern and the Forestry Division SMC extend their heartfelt appreciation to all participants and supporters for making Chinar Day a resounding success.
