Speaking to reporters in Gulmarg, Omar was asked whether the ban was linked to Mirwaiz’s opposition to the Gulmarg Fashion Show. Omar as per news agency JKNS, responded, “No, we can’t say that. On what basis was it banned? We don’t know. Firstly, this is not in the control of the elected government.”

Omar further said that the intelligence inputs leading to the ban were not shared by center with us and that, in principle, his party was never in favor of such decisions. He reiterated that they had no information about the reasoning behind the move.

“As far as Mirwaiz Sahab’s release is concerned, from what I have seen, he has not said anything wrong since then,” Omar said. “But again, I reiterate that we have no information on what basis this decision was taken. Moving forward, we will see what needs to be done.” (JKNS)
