Anantnag: To ensure public safety during the ongoing holy month Ramadan, Food Safety Department (FSD) Anantnag has been carrying out intensive market checking inspections across the district.
During the checks, the department encountered several instances of non-compliance with food safety regulations. As a result, four petty Food Business Operators (FBOs) found violating provisions under the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 were recommended for compounding under Section 69 of the Act. Several food samples were collected for analysis at a NABL accredited laboratory to monitor food quality and safety standards.
The department’s focus has been on food establishments dealing with chicken, fresh fruits, vegetables, and other edible commodities, ensuring they comply with food safety standards.
The ongoing inspections are part of the Food Safety Department’s commitment to providing safe and wholesome food to the general public, as per the guidelines of the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006, and its regulations.
The Food Safety Department has assured the public of its commitment to safeguarding consumer health during Ramadan, emphasizing that market inspections will continue through the month and beyond to ensure the availability of safe, quality food ite
The department has urged the general public to report any food safety violations they may come across, stressing that adherence to safety standards is critical in maintaining a healthy and secure food environment for all.
