Jammu: A joint traffic regulation enforcement drive was conducted on Monday in Jammu North tehsil under the supervision of Additional District Magistrate Ansuya Jamwal and under the overall direction of District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya.
The crackdown, led by ADM Ansuya Jamwal and SP Rural Brijesh Sharma, aimed at enforcing traffic laws and curbing violations, was carried out by teams of the district administration constituting officials from Motor Vehicles Department, District Police and Traffic Police.
Officials inspected nearly 280 vehicles and issued 71 challans for violations, including tinted windows, triple riding, failure to wear helmets or seat belts, unauthorised music systems in public transport vehicles, pressure horns on motorcycles, modified tyres and lights, and tampered number plates. Authorities seized 16 vehicles for serious infractions, removed black films from cars and dismantled loudspeakers installed in matadors. The estimated total from the fines is ₹1,70,800.
The enforcement team also included ARTO FS Bipen Singh Charak, Deputy SP Traffic North Anubhuti, Naib Tehsildar Saleem, Motor vehicle inspectors Azad Hussain and Amanish Sharma, MVTA Taranjot Singh, DTI Traffic Showket Amain and PSI Chinore PP Arjun Chouhan, along with personnel from the traffic and police departments.
Officials also used the drive to educate commuters and vehicle owners on traffic laws. Speaking on the occasion, ADM Ansuya Jamwal stressed the importance of road discipline and urged drivers to comply with the Motor Vehicles Act to avoid penalties and improve road safety.
Similar enforcement drives will continue in the month of March across the district as part of an ongoing effort to reduce violations and enhance road safety across Jammu.
