Pulwama: Police Station Litter has registered its first electronic First Information Report (e-FIR) under the new criminal laws following a complaint lodged via WhatsApp.

Statement reads, The e-FIR was filed by Firdous Ahmad Bhat, S/o Abdul Rasheed Bhat, R/o Srinagar, owner of Bhat Agro Cardboard Factory. He reported that unknown intruders had entered his factory, damaged CCTV cameras, and stolen the hard disk.

Taking cognizance of the complaint as per New Criminal Laws, Case FIR No. 16/2025 was registered under the relevant sections of law at Litter Police Station, and further investigation is underway, it reads. . This initiative in line with the new criminal laws reflects Pulwama Police’s commitment to leveraging technology for swift and efficient grievance redressal while ensuring timely action against criminal activities.

People without physically visiting a police station can report their grievances through digital platforms including WhatsApp & email, reads the statement. (JKNS)
