A total of 55 laborers were suspected to be trapped: 33 were rescued or found safe by last night. 15 have been rescued today (including one in critical condition). Search and evacuation of remaining 07 labourers is still in progress . Besides army personnel, engineering plant equipment, avalanche rescue radars and helicopters are being employed to enhance the rescue efforts.

Indian Army doctors on-site have performed life-saving surgeries for those in dire need, while helicopter operations from the Joshimath helipad are in full swing using eight helicopters from Indian Army Aviation and the Air Force. Total 19 persons have been evacuated from Mana to Joshimath so far. High-ranking officials, including the General Officer Commanding- in-Chief of Indian Army’s Central Command, General Officer Commanding Uttar Bharat Area and Director General Border Roads are present to oversee and coordinate the operation.
