DC Samba leads anti-drug IEC Campaign at Naran Panchayat

Samba: A significant outreach program was conducted on Friday here at Naran Panchayat under the ongoing anti-drug IEC campaign.
Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma led the event. The local community actively engaged in discussions on drug prevention, rehabilitation and the collective responsibility of society in tackling substance abuse.
The DC underlined the significance of organizing awareness programs in schools and local institutions in promotion of the campaign, directing Education officials to integrate drug prevention initiatives into school curricula and conduct regular sensitization sessions. He also urged teachers and parents to stay vigilant, identify early warning signs and promote open communication with children.
Medical and healthcare representatives highlighted the physical and psychological impact of drug addiction, emphasizing the need for early intervention, routine health check-ups and counseling facilities. DC Samba instructed medical teams to organize regular awareness drives in schools and public spaces to help in early detection and prevention.
He emphasized the need for a united and proactive approach to combat drug abuse, highlighting the role of education, healthcare and community participation in addressing this challenge.
The event witnessed the participation of SDM Ghagwal Sunaina Saini along with Tehsildar Ghagwal, BDO Ghagwal, public representatives and officials from the medical and education sectors.
The program concluded with emphasis on a coordinated approach between administration, law enforcement and civil society to make Samba a drug-free district.
