Police Inaugurates Knockout Football Tournament In B’gam

Srinagar: Police in Budgam inaugurated Knockout football tournament on Tuesday at DPL Budgam under the supervision of SSP Budgam Nikhil Borkar, as part of the Civic Action Programme 2024-2025. The event aims to promote sports and encourage youth participation in constructive activities, leading to well-rounded development. As part of the programme, five teams comprising football players from across the district are participating the event.
The tournament was inaugurated by DySP DAR Budgam Shri Ghulam Mohiuddin, besides other officers of District Police Budgam were also present on the event. The inaugural officer while interacting with the players and other spectators said that J&K Police is at the forefront in organising various sports activities with the sole aim to provide best platform to the youth, so that they can showcase their talent in sports activities. These sports activities not only keep the youth physically and mentally fit but also keep them away from social evils.
The inaugural match was played between ‘Alhayat Football Club Zoorigund Vs Rehbar 11 Budgam’ which was won by ‘Rehbar 11 Budgam’ by 11:0. Qumail Ahmad was declared Man of the Match for his outstanding performance. The opening day also featured two more competitive matches, where young football players showcased their skills and enthusiasm, setting a promising tone for the tournament.
