Stolen vehicle recovered from accused involved in extortion case in Srinagar: Police

Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has recovered stolen vehicle from one Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah @ 99 S/o Ghulam Qadir Shah R/o Aikal Mir Khanyar in extortion case, Stating therein that accused was apprehended by the team of Police Station Safakadal in connection with the extortion case vide FIR No. 02/2025 under section 308(2) BNS.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that upon the disclosure of the said accused a stolen (Alto) vehicle was recovered by the investigating team and more recoveries are expected in the ongoing case.
Stating that the said accused was involved in more than 30 FIRs involving theft and extortion in addition to being booked under PSA twice, Police in its statement further said that arrest of the said accused is a significant achievement of Srinagar Police undertaken by the team of Police Station MR Gunj led by SHO Police Station MR Gunj.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police reiterated its commitment to eradicate social crimes from the society and appealed people to share information of anti-social elements with J&K Police in eradicating crimes and maintaining peace and order in the society.
