Kathua : Member Legislative Assembly Kathua Dr. Bharat Bhushan on Monday convened a meeting with key stakeholders here in the Conference Hall of the SIDCO Complex to review the industrial scenario, address challenges faced by local industries, and explore opportunities for employment generation.
The meeting was attended by General Manager, District Industries Centre Mohammed Ashraf; President Kathua Industrial Unit Association, Ajeet Bawa; Functional Manager, DIC and several industrialists representing different industries established across Kathua District.
During the meeting, the MLA emphasized that the primary objective was to evaluate the human resource needs and skill sets required for the absorption of local unemployed youth in industries. He underscored the importance of aligning the industrial workforce requirements with the skill development of local youth to enhance employment opportunities. To facilitate this, he directed the GM DIC to appoint a Nodal Officer responsible for collecting resumes of unemployed youth, enabling a centralized system for job applications and placements.
A detailed discussion was held regarding the necessary infrastructure improvements to make the industrial estates more viable for new ventures while also consolidating the existing infrastructure. Industrialists raised pressing issues demanding renovation of roads within the industrial estates, up-gradation of sewerage system and the establishment of a fire station to facilitate smooth industrial operations.
The MLA Kathua also took stock of the workforce composition in local industries, assessing the ratio of local and non-local employees. He assured the stakeholders of the government’s commitment to addressing these concerns while ensuring that the local population benefits from increased employment opportunities.
The MLA reiterated that the primary goal of the meeting was to foster effective two-way communication between industries and the government. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to creating an industrial environment conducive to business growth while simultaneously generating employment for local youth.
