DLSA Srinagar organizes awareness prog on Senior Citizens’ Rights, Benefits under NALSA

Srinagar : District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, organized an awareness programme at AhateWaqar, a day care and recreation centre for senior citizens, focusing on the legal rights and benefits under the NALSA Senior Citizens Scheme.
The event aimed to empower senior citizens by providing them with comprehensive information on their legal entitlements and welfare benefits.
The programme was held under the chairmanship of Jaffer Hussain Beg, Chairman DLSA Srinagar and Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar, and supervision of Nusrat Ali Hakak. Secretary DLSA Srinagar
The program commenced with a soulful tilawat of the Quran by Qazi Abdul Rashid, who also captivated the audience with a few lines from his latest poetry. His recitations set a reflective tone for the proceedings.
Urba Rashid, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel & the resource person emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about the schemes offered under the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) for senior citizens, which are designed to ensure their protection, dignity, and access to justice.
She also elaborated on the legal remedies available in case of elder abuse and the various state and national-level benefits offered to senior citizens.
The participants expressed their gratitude for the informative session, which encouraged them to stay informed and utilize the benefits available for their welfare.
The DLSA reiterated its commitment to organizing more such programmes to ensure that all vulnerable sections of society are made aware of their legal rights and protections.
The programme was moderated by Dr. Laila Sultana.
