Bandipora : The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, on Monday convened a meeting to review the progress and challenges of the Wullar Project.
During the meeting, different aspects of Rs. 350 crore Wullar project were deliberated upon including resource management, regulatory compliance, and multi-departmental coordination to ensure seamless execution.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of addressing material identification delays, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining sustainability while executing the project. He directed all stakeholders to work diligently towards effective project execution while upholding regulatory and environmental safeguards.
He emphasised that all activities must be conducted in strict adherence to government instructions, SROs, and notifications.
On the occasion, the DC said that a multi-departmental committee will be convened to deliberate and finalize action plans. He said that opinions from all concerned departments will be sought before further implementation and will be incorporated in the action plan.
M A Qadri urged the concerned officers to take measures that will minimize ecological impact, with basic costs maintained at reasonable levels besides urged concerned officers to ensure necessary facilitation for smooth operations.
Deputy Commissioner directed key departments, including I&FC, Fisheries, and R&B, to jointly oversee project execution to ensure compliance.
He also emphasized the need to prevent any damage to Fisheries, Public Health Engineering (PHE), or other departmental infrastructure during the process.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Executive Engineer R&B, Tehsildar Bandipora, Assistant Director Fisheries, DMO Bandipora, representative from Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC) Department and other concerned.
