Jashn-e-Jammu & Kashmir enthralls audience on Day 2 at Abhinav Theatre Jammu

Jammu: The second day of the Jashn-e-Jammu & Kashmir festival, organized by Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) in collaboration with the J&K Artists Association, continued to be a grand celebration of the region’s rich cultural heritage here at Abhinav Theatre.
Inaugurated yesterday by Lt. Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha, the festival captivated audiences with a spectacular lineup of traditional music, dance, and folk theatre performances.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Member Legislative Assembly Yudhvir Sethi, who lauded the efforts of JKAACL and the J&K Artists Association for organizing such a vibrant cultural festival that beautifully showcases the artistic traditions of the region. He emphasized the need for continued support to local artists and performers, highlighting how such platforms provide them with the recognition they deserve while also fostering cultural exchange and unity.
Senior Journalist, Sohail Kazmi also addressed the gathering, appreciating the rich diversity of folk music, dance, and theatre presented at the festival. He underscored the importance of preserving and promoting Jammu and Kashmir’s traditional art forms, which have been an integral part of its history and identity. Their presence and words of encouragement reinforced the festival’s role in keeping the region’s cultural heritage alive for future generations.
The day’s performances featured Neeta Adarsh & Group from Ramnagar, presenting the soulful Geetru, followed by Saqib Ahad & Party from Srinagar, mesmerizing the crowd with Chakri. Traditional Kashmiri storytelling came alive through Baba Reshi Folk Theatre and BhandPather artists from Heemal Cultural Society. The Rouf Dance by Lotus Cultural Group and the graceful Dambali Dance by Shkoori Sha Dambali Dance Centre showcased Kashmir’s deep-rooted artistic traditions.
The evening also celebrated Dogri folk dances by Sanjeet Mehra & Group, the unique BhandPather by AlamdarBhagat Theatre from MohriPora, and a stirring Challant performance by GulamRaoolBhagatyar. The energy continued with Dogri dances by Radhika Manhas & Group and a soulful GojriGeet by renowned artists Razia Ashraf and Parveena Choudhary.
With two days of captivating performances, Jashn-e-Jammu & Kashmir has been a true celebration of the region’s artistic vibrancy. The festival will conclude tomorrow with a grand finale, promising another evening of enthralling cultural presentations.
