DLSA G’bal organizes awareness prog on Right to Free Legal Aid, Legal representation

Ganderbal : District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal, organized a legal awareness program on “Right to Free Legal Aid and Legal Representation”, at a far flung village Krishansar Waliwar of district, on Wednesday.
The program was held under the supervision of Chairman DLSA, Ganderbal, Abdul Nasir, and under the guidance of Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, aimed to educate the general public about accessing free legal representation particularly for weaker sections in criminal cases.
On the occasion, Tanveer Ashraf, Assistant LADC, Ganderbal, delivered an informative lecture, enlightening the participants about the nuances of accessing free legal representation.
He elaborated on various aspects, including, procedures to access free legal representation, conditions for free legal aid, eligibility criteria and benefits of legal aid, rights of those unable to afford legal representation, special provisions for people living below the poverty line and availability of free legal aid in both criminal and civil cases.
His insightful presentation empowered the participants with knowledge about their rights and entitlements under the free legal aid scheme.
Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Adhikaar Mitra (PLV) VLC&SC Manigam, distributed free legal aid pamphlets published by National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and J&K Legal Services Authority (JK LSA) among the participants, providing them with valuable resources and information on accessing legal aid services and eligibility of persons for free and competent legal aid.
He also distributed pamphlets of NALSA helpline 15100 among the participants during the program.
The awareness program was overwhelmingly attended by local women from Krishansar Waliwar, who interacted with the resource persons, demonstrating their enthusiasm for learning about their rights and entitlements under the free legal aid scheme.
