Rajouri: The 2-day District Level Sports Meet organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of India) successfully concluded on Wednesday at Mini Stadium Rajouri.
The program was held under the aegis of MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat) an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The District Youth Services and Sports department provided necessary support and coordination for the Tournament.
A total of 6 Sports Events were organised under the Meet in which the winners of 6 cluster level sports meets participated. The cluster level meets were held in December 2024 and January 2025 in Sunderbani, Dhangri, Kalakote, Budhal, Rajouri and Manjakote.
In the Volleyball Men’s Group event, Rajouri Team, under the captaincy of Saqib Shabir Choudhary, emerged victorious while the Kalakote team emerged runner up. In the Kho Kho Women’s Round, Rajouri Team emerged victorious while Manjakote Team was the Runner Up.
In the Badminton Singles Women Round, Monika Sharma and Aushi Sharma from Sunderbani secured First and Second Spot while Neha Sharma from Kalakote bagged third place. In the Skipping Rope Women Round, Arushi Sharma from Sunderbani secured the top spot while Neha Sharma and Tineha Sharma from Kalakote were the runners up. In the 100 Metre Men’s Event, Sachin Sharma from Kalakote, Varun Sharma from Sunderbani, Ramandeep Singh from Budhal secured first, second and third prize respectively. In the Men’s Shot Put Event, Randeep Singh, Waseem Akram and Azad Khan from Budhal secured first, second and Third prize respectively.
Adv. Naseem Liaqat, Chairman District Development Council was the chief guest at the closing ceremony, while Ashiq Rafiq Malik was the Guest of Honour. The Chief Guest congratulated the winners and lauded the organizers for hosting the mega event. The program was held under the guidance of DYO NYKS Nitin Hangloo.
Among others present in the Event were DYSSO Sukhdev Sharma; I/C DYSSO Gulzar Ahmed; ZPEO Wali Mohd; Activity Incharge Idrees Wani, officials and staff of YSS. State Level Resource Person NYKS Vikrant Sharma coordinated the event.
At the end, Sports Kits were distributed among the youth clubs. The winners shall now participate at a Sports Meet at Jammu.
