Srinagar : Forest Division Anantnag has started a novel plantation drive by carrying a plant distribution programme “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam Campaign” among senior women citizens of Anantnag Forest Division.
The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of trees and to promote environmental conservation.
A door to door campaign was started from Utersoo block of Anantnag Forest Division wherein poted plants were distributed among elderly ladies.
The initiative is part of Prime Minister’s Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Campaign which is being held across the country.
The Divisional Forest Officer Anantnag Forest Division informed that under the campaign around 2 lac plants will be planted in the Division and also the distribution will be carried in all Ranges of the Division.
DFO informed that the campaign has been well-received by the public and people have come forward to participate in the programme and plant trees in the name of their mothers.
The Forest Division is hopeful that the campaign will help to increase the green cover in the region and to create a more sustainable environment.
