Srinagar: Scores of civil society members in parts of Kashmir held a candlelight march on Tuesday evening to condemn the recent terror attack in Kulgam, which resulted in the death of an ex-servicemen, Manzoor Ahmad, and injuries to his wife and niece.
Reports reaching news agency JKNS said that protests were taken in Kulgam, Bandipora, Sopore, Pulwama and Shopian too.
In Sopore, the peaceful protest saw participants carrying candles and placards reading “We Condemn Pakistan-Sponsored Terrorism” as they marched through the town, expressing their grief and anger over the brutal attack. Protesters strongly condemned the killing, stating that such acts of violence should have no place in Kashmir.
They emphasized the need for peace and harmony, calling for an end to the violence that has claimed the lives of innocent civilians and security personnel.
Participants stressed the importance of protecting innocent lives and fostering a peaceful environment for all residents of the region.
Similarly, in a strong display of solidarity and condemnation, Bandipora residents held a candlelight protest in the Naninara Sumbal area of Bandipora district against the recent terror attack in Kulgam.
The protest witnessed participation from people of all ages, including youth and children from different walks of life, who gathered to express their grief over the tragic incident and demand justice for the victims. Carrying candles and placards, the demonstrators marched through the streets, condemning the heinous act and calling for an end to violence in the region.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, political leader Rather Mehraj strongly denounced the attack, stating, “Terrorism has no place in a civilized society. The people of Jammu and Kashmir want peace and development, not bloodshed. We stand united in mourning the innocent lives lost in Kulgam and urge authorities to take strict action against those responsible.”
The march served as a powerful demonstration of the community’s resolve against terrorism and their desire for lasting peace in the Valley. (JKNS)
