Criminal injured, another gangster apprehended in Jammu:- Police

Jammu:- A gangster was injured while another was apprehended in Miran sahib area of Jammu on Friday evening.

A police officer told news agency JKNS that one notorious criminal, gangster injured in retaliation and another wanted gangster apprehended by Jammu Police in Miran Sahib.

He said that arms were recovered while FIR was registered at PS Miran Sahib.

He added that Jammu Police received reliable information that hardcore criminal Paramjit Singh, also known as Jungi, son of Devi Dass from Draptey, R.S. Pura, along with an unidentified associate, was present in the jurisdiction of Police Station Miran Sahib, armed and intending to commit a serious crime.

“Acting swiftly, a police team from Miran Sahib proceeded to the location. Upon arrival, Paramjit Singh fired at the police, prompting them to return fire in self-defense. During the exchange, Paramjit Singh sustained a bullet injury to his leg and was subsequently transported to GMC Hospital Jammu for treatment.” He said.

The unidentified associate was apprehended and later identified as a notorious wanted criminal Arjun Kumar, also known as Billu, son of Sham Lal, originally from Akhnoor and currently residing in Salehar Kothey Arnia, Jammu.

Police recovered arms and ammunition from the gangsters.

A First Information Report (FIR) under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib, and further investigation is underway, officer added.—(JKNS)
