Srinagar: Minimum temperatures have improved as Jammu and Kashmir prepares for a fresh spell of rain and snowfall from today.

As per details available with news agency JKNS, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 1.9°C, Qazigund -0.1°C, Pahalgam -0.8°C, Kupwara 1.0°C, Kokernag 1.3°C, Gulmarg -2.5°C, Sonamarg -0.7°C, Bandipora 2.4°C, Baramulla 0.8°C, Budgam 0.6°C, Ganderbal 2.1°C, Pulwama -1.7°C, Khudwani -2.7°C, Kulgam -0.9°C, Shopian -0.4°C, and Larnoo -0.8°C.

While, Jammu recorded a minimum of 11.2°C, Banihal 3.3°C, Batote 7.7°C, Katra 10.3°C, Bhaderwah 4.5°C, Kishtwar 7.7°C, Padder -0.7°C, Ramban 7.0°C, Poonch 6.5°C, Rajouri 5.6°C, Samba 10.0°C, Kathua 9.4°C, Reasi 9.5°C, and Udhampur 8.0°C.

Meanwhile, in Ladakh, Leh recorded a minimum temperature of -5.9°C, Kargil -4.9°C, and Drass -7.5°C.

Director MET told news agency JKNS that generally jdry weather is expected till the afternoon of January 29, with a possibility of light snow at isolated higher reaches tonight. A fresh spell of light rain and snow is likely at scattered to fairly widespread places during the night of January 29 and morning of January 30, with isolated snowfall on January 31.

“From February 1-2, generally cloudy weather is expected with the possibility of light rain and snow at scattered to fairly widespread places, while a few middle and higher reaches may receive moderate snowfall. On February 3, light snow is expected at scattered places, while from February 4-5, light rain or snow may occur at scattered to fairly widespread places,” the official said.

Director further said that minimum temperatures are expected to rise by 2-4°C at many places from January 29 onwards. Tourists, travelers, and transporters have been advised to follow administrative and traffic advisories to avoid any inconvenience.—(JKNS)
