Jammu : Reacting to a statement by Apni Party Chairman Syed Altaf Bukhari that only his party can restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, senior BJP leader and former Speaker Kavinder Gupta asserted that the BJP-led Central Government is the sole authority on the matter.
Gupta said that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved significantly, with peace prevailing across the region, paving the way for the restoration of statehood. “The Prime Minister has promised to restore statehood, and it will happen at an opportune time,” he said, emphasizing the BJP’s commitment to fulfilling this pledge.
Reiterating his party’s stance, Gupta said, “Nobody except the BJP can give statehood back to Jammu and Kashmir. The process is being carefully considered, and the decision will be made in the best interest of the people and the region.” The BJP has consistently maintained that statehood will be restored once the region achieves long-term peace and stability.
