DC Budgam holds meeting with bankers, instructs 100% coverage of Smart Kisan Credit Cards

BUDGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo, chaired a meeting today to review the saturation of Smart Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) in the district.

The meeting aimed to strategize and expedite the process, ensuring maximum benefits for the farming community.

During the meeting, the DC assessed the current status of Smart KCC saturation and directed all concerned departments and banks to ensure 100% coverage of eligible beneficiaries within the stipulated time frame.

He emphasized the need for proactive measures by the banks, including issuing smart cards, to eligible beneficiaries

The DC further directed for close coordination among banks, agricultural officers, and other stakeholders to accelerate the registration process and ensure seamless linkage of beneficiaries with the smart cards.

He stressed the need for efficient and transparent operations to guarantee that every eligible farmer in the district avails the scheme’s benefits.

To monitor progress, the DC instructed the Chief Planning Officer (CPO) to coordinate interdepartmental activities, assign clear responsibilities, and provide daily updates.

Special emphasis was placed on the timely resolution of challenges, fostering collaboration among all stakeholders, including representatives from linked banks.

The DC said that the successful implementation of the Smart KCC initiative would contribute significantly to the holistic development of the farming sector in Budgam, enhancing financial inclusion and empowering the agricultural economy of the District.

The meeting was attended by CPO Budgam, Chief Agriculture Officer Budgam, Lead District Manager (LDM) Budgam, representatives from all linked bank branches in Budgam and officers from other concerned departments.
