DC reviews progress of Phase-1 Restoration & Preservation works of Heritage sites in B’gam

Budgam : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo, chaired a meeting on Thursday at the DC Office, here to review the progress and plans for the restoration, preservation, and maintenance of architectural and heritage sites chosen in Phase-1 across the district.
The DC took stock of the status of renovation and upgradation works at various chosen heritage sites in the Phase-1 including Charar-i-Sharief shrine, Dia-Nag Temple Budgam, Markazi Imambara Budgam, Imambara Khumani Chowk Bemina and Vasuki-Nag Temple Wagam.
During the meeting, the implementing agencies informed that the first phase of tendering has been completed, and work on all the identified projects is set to commence shortly.
The DC stressed on the need of initiating and completing the projects promptly once the tenders are executed.
He underscored the importance of a coordinated and collaborative approach among all concerned departments to ensure the timely and efficient execution of these restoration initiatives.
The DC emphasised the importance of these works that are aimed at reviving, restoring, upgrading and preserving the heritage sites.
He urged all stakeholders to adhere to value-based conservation methodologies and adopt an integrated approach that ensures the protection of aesthetic, historic values associated with these sites.
The DC reiterated that the restoration efforts must reflect the rich civilizational and cultural heritage of Budgam.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Budgam, Executive Engineer R&B Charar-i-Sharief, Executive Engineer RDD, AEE R&B Budgam, and other concerned officials.
