Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Awantipora and Sopore besides recovering contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police team at a checkpoint established at Datpora Dogripora, arrested two drug peddlers identified as Bilal Ahmad Lohrihanji S/o Ali Mohd Lohrihanji R/o Gund Prang Hajin Bandipora and Reyaz Ahmad Mir S/o Ab Gani Mir R/o Datapora Dogripora and during search recovered 1.460 Kgs of grinded Cannabis Powder from their possession.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action at Sopore, during patrolling at Harwan Sopore, a Police team led by SHO Police Station Bomai under the supervision of SDPO Sopore, intercepted a drug peddler identified as Manzoor Ahmad Mochi S/o Mohammad Shaban Mochi R/o Harwan Sopore, Police in its statement further said that during search, 137 grams of Charas was recovered from the possession of the said accused who were arrested and cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
