Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested two persons for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Awantipora & seized two vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party from Police Station Khrew have arrested two persons identified as Sajad Ahmad Bhat S/o Nazir Ahmad Bhat and Shabir Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ali Mohammad Sheikh, both residents of Wuyan and seized two vehicles (Tipper & Dumper) bearing registration numbers JK04A-8335 and JK13G- 9826 involved in illegal extraction of mineral in Khrew.
Stating that a case under FIR NO. 01/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Khrew besides initiating further investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law.
