Z-Morh Tunnel Inauguration: LG Sinha Says Terrorism Eradicated, J&K on Path to Peace and Progress

Sonamarg, Jan 13 (JKNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir has been eradicated, paving the way for peace, progress, and prosperity in the region.

Speaking at the inaugural of the 6.5-km-long Z-Morh tunnel in Central Kashmir’s Sonamarg, LG Manoj Sinha as per the news agency JKNS said that through consistent efforts of the government, the terror network that once gripped the region has been broken.

“The days of fear and terror are over. Jammu and Kashmir has transformed into a peaceful region where development and prosperity are now the priorities,” he said Sinha, as per JKNS.

He added, the LG credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for achieving this milestone. “Under PM Modi’s vision, terrorism has been wiped out, and J&K has become a real paradise,” he said.

He said the Z-Morh tunnel was a symbol of change that connected Sonamarg during the entire year, besides improving the overall economic chances in the area. “This is not only connecting the two places but is a symbol of new, peaceful Jammu and Kashmir. Everybody celebrates Diwali this way,” he said.

Notably, LG Sinha also announced that the CEO of the Zojila tunnel project has intimated that it would be completed by 2026 connecting Sonamarg to Ladakh.

Sinha, speaking on peace in J&K affecting its tourism, said the state recorded an all-time 2.35 crore tourist visits in 2024. “Tourism has replaced terrorism, bringing new hope and prosperity to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

In the meanwhile, he also paid rich tributes to the seven persons working in Z-Morh tunnel who fell to a terrorists’ attack on Gagangeer last month. “The sacrifice of each of them is not going in vain. He continued, The fight against leftovers of terrorism continues until the fear in the whole region is zero,” he said.—(JKNS)
