Bandipora : In a significant development aimed to extend cardio care to the local populace including those from far flung areas of the District, the District Hospital (DH) Bandipora is all set to introduce general cardiology consultations within the hospital premises, here.
This initiative will bring specialized heart care closer to residents of Bandipora and shall simultaneously lower the burden on tertiary healthcare institutions of the Division.
According to Medical Superintendent, Dr. Masarat with the induction of highly qualified cardiologists at the district hospital recently, highly advanced and specialised consultations and treatment for heart-related ailments shall be available at the district hospital which so far were made at tertiary care hospitals only. For this the patients would have to travel longer distances to Srinagar and expend huge amounts. This, Dr Masrat said, is a major step forward in providing specialized healthcare to the people of Bandipora.
He said that the hospital is committed to make essential medicines and treatments available free of cost. “We aim to ease the financial burden on underprivileged patients by ensuring all necessary cardiac medicines are stocked which includes thrombolysis injections, which cost Rs.25,000 in the market but are provided free of charge at our facility,” he added.
Dr. Masarat said that so far District Hospital Bandipora has achieved a remarkable milestone by successfully thrombolyzing/ saving 97 patients of heart attack in its Emergency Resuscitation Unit from January 2024 to December 2024.
Thrombolysis is a critical procedure for treating heart attacks by dissolving blood clots, and having this facility available locally is a lifesaver for patients in remote areas.
Speaking about this achievement, he said that Hospital Administration is committed to deliver life-saving care to the people of the district.
“In the intervening night of January 9 and 10 alone, we managed to thrombolyze six patients, providing them with injections that cost ₹25,000 outside, completely free of cost at our facility,” Dr. Masarat stated.
He emphasized the importance of timely medical intervention in cases of chest pain or heart-related emergencies. “We are here for the people of Bandipora. If anyone experiences chest pain or related symptoms, they should rush to DH Bandipora immediately. Our dedicated team of doctors, including a cardiologist, is always ready to provide expert care during the critical golden minutes of life,” he said.
The successful management of these cases underscores the hospital’s dedication to providing quality healthcare to the community and highlights the crucial role of the Emergency Resuscitation Unit in saving lives.
Various patients and residents of Bandipora district including Gurez lauded the efforts of Government for offering advanced cardiac care and ensuring that essential treatments are accessible to all, regardless of financial constraints.
