The Lieutenant Governor revealed that in 2024, J&K secured its highest-ever 210 convictions, registered 1,514 cases under the NDPS Act, and made 2,260 arrests. Additionally, 188 properties of traffickers were identified for attachment under SAFEMA, and 274 repeat offenders were detained under the PIT-NDPS Act.

He added that financial investigations are being carried out in all cases to dismantle networks comprehensively. “Five special NDPS courts have been set up for the speedy trial of cases,” he said.

The LG attributed this success to a “whole of government” approach under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He also stressed on inter-departmental coordination, modernized forensic labs, and timely charge-sheet filing as key contributors.

“Regular NCORD meetings and strengthened forensic labs have enabled effective trials and a robust legal framework,” the LG said, reaffirming the government’s resolve to combat drug trafficking and abuse. (JKNS)
