Heemal Nagrai Winter Carnival in Shopian Draws tourists with Snow and Scenic Beauty

Shopian: The “Heemal Nagrai” winter carnival in Shopian has gained much popularity over the weekend as it attracted visitors from all parts of the region towards the beautiful snow-white landscapes and other traditional winter festivities.

According to the details collected by the news agency JKNS, the carnival has witnessed an enthusiastic response from travelers, who are charmed by the serene beauty of the area. Tourists could be seen to be enjoying fresh snowfall, taking photographs, and relishing winter festivities.

Rifat Ali, a tourist from Srinagar said, I had heard so much about Shopian’s beauty, and seeing it for myself in the winter is just magical. The snowfall and the views here are incredible.

Another visitor, Shahid Ahmad said, It is my first time visiting Shopian, and the carnival has made it an unforgettable experience. The blend of snow and local culture is just perfect.

Notably, the event is also boosting the local economy as most small businesses and vendors have put up stalls offering traditional Kashmiri products and foods.

Local residents have expressed their joy at the influx of tourists, with many saying that the carnival has brought much-needed attention to Shopian as a winter tourism destination. “We are excited to host tourists and show them the beauty of our region. This event has been a great success,” said Gulzar Ahmad, a local shopkeeper.

Similarly, as the carnival continues, the region is likely to see more footfall with hopes of making Shopian a key winter tourism hub in Kashmir.—(JKNS)
